Atrás dos Tempos Vêm Tempos (After Times Come Other Times) is a song that Fausto first sang on the album Madrugada dos Trapeiros, back in 1977, when the scent of carnations (the symbol of the Revolution) was still fresh in everyone’s memory. Almost 20 years later, this title would also be used for an anthology of his work. He now uses it once more as the name of a rare concert. Not only is this concert rare because Fausto is parsimonious when it comes to performing live, having always preferred to be reserved rather than to exhibit himself, to be absent rather than in the spotlight. It is also rare because, previously, whenever Fausto has brought his creations to the stage, he has done so with the idea that the present moment, and not the memory, is what deserves his attention. Normally, for him, a concert presents the chance to explore his latest work, being an opportunity to exhibit live what has been painstakingly created in the studio. The idea of “greatest hits” was never part of his way of thinking. However, there is no denying that in the five decades of his sparkling career, the man who has sailed up river, leapt over mountains and walked on the burning earth, has left a lot of marks along the way. And it is these marks that will serve as the basis for this new concert, on 12 March, in the Main Auditorium of the CCB, in Lisbon, in a world that we already hope will be a different one.
