Fado
Music
A promising voice from the new generation of Fado singers, Zé Maria will be presenting his first recordings at this concert, released on the Museu do Fado Discos label. This debut album reflects his musical path, which was mapped out for him early on by the Fado, later maturing and being brought to the attention of wider audiences at some of Lisbon’s most emblematic Fado houses.
Zé Maria’s Fado is harmonious and tuneful, being deeply rooted in tradition, but also producing more complex melodies and displaying a special sensitivity to poetry and what it communicates.
Zé Maria will be accompanied on Portuguese guitar by Pedro de Castro – who is also responsible for the album’s musical production – as well as by João Filipe on fado guitar and Francisco Gaspar on bass.
