July 17th 2021 - Mezze

Do you know how to say “bread” in Arabic? Khubz! And there is not one Arab meal that does not include bread served at the table. Bread isn’t just an accompaniment, it’s practically a spoon. At this show-cooking, therefore, the Mezze team will show us how to make Syrian bread. And, who knows, participants may even be lucky enough to taste it with a dash of olive-oil and za’atar. In the Arab style, of course.

july 24 - Patuá

At this show-cooking, the team from the Patuá restaurant will be presenting Minchi, one of the most iconic dishes of Macanese cuisine.

One of the most striking features of this cuisine is the fact that it brings the West and the East together at the table in a quite unique way, since many of its dishes are the fruit of adaptations of ingredients and recipes from Portuguese, Chinese, Malayan, Goan and African cuisine, thus generating a cookbook that offers dishes lying somewhere between the exotic and the familiar.

Minchi, is very often described as the “Macanese bitoque (beefsteak)”, and is an example (among many others) of this familiar strangeness.

It is a simple dish with such common ingredients as rice, chips, meat and a fried egg, but its preparation and seasoning take us off to the other side of the globe.

It is the perfect recipe for children’s birthday parties and each family has their own way of cooking this dish, a situation that has led to a debate about the question of “authenticity”, which has never received a conclusive answer.

 

 

July 31th - Casa de Angola

Paulo Soares, the chef at the Casa de Angola (a cultural centre and restaurant that has been in operation since 1971), will be bringing the flavours of Angola to the Stone Garden of the Centro Cultural de Belém. He will be presenting a typical Angolan fish dish: calulu de peixe, which is accompanied by a sweetcorn and bean funje (porridge) with palm-oil. Don’t miss this chance to discover the traditional flavours of Angola at first hand.

August 7 - Palad'Arte

 

August 14 - A’ Paranza – Tasca Italiana

Come and feel as if you are in the south of Italy with the Ravioli di Sgombro alla Puttanesca, which will be cooked in the Stone Garden by the team from A’ Paranza – Tasca Italiana.

The recipe is an easy one. Arouse your senses and accompany us on this flavoursome journey across the Mediterranean Sea. You won’t regret it.
So, are you ready? Let’s get kneading with A’ Paranza.

Discover the best Russian gastronomic delights at this show-cooking organised by A Tapadinha. This restaurant, located in Alcântara, Lisbon, specialises in typical Russian cuisine. In the Stone Garden of the Centro Cultural de Belém, we will have the chance to enjoy some of the great surprises of Russian cooking.
