Mother Courage and Her Children, considered a monumental work of the epic theatre created by Brecht, was written in 1939 during the exile of the playwright, criticizing war and conformism. The plot follows Anna Fierling, the «Mother Courage», a traveling saleswoman during the Thirty Years’ War, who sacrifices her children to survive, facing ethical dilemmas and dishonest business dealings. In the bitter outcome, she loses all her children to the war, highlighting human ambivalence.
With the participation of Maria João Luís and the Teatro do Bairro Company cast.
