Actress Carla Galvão, pianist and composer Filipe Raposo and illustrator Beatriz Bagulho bring to the stage the story of The Sea Girl, by Sophia de Mello Breyner Andresen, based on the music of Bernardo Sassetti.

“We tell this story as if we were entering a house that is very important for us, trying to fix its architecture in our memory of sight and sound. We tell this story as if we were seeking to conserve the profound beauty of things, even though we know that they break and disappear like the waves of the sea and the dunes. We tell this story as if we were fixing the words in the music and the music in the words, so that we can build the ‘white house in front of the enormous sea, with your garden of sand and sea flowers’.” – Carla Galvão and Filipe Raposo

Deep Down Portugal is the Sea is the result of a partnership between the Portuguese Taks Group for the Extension of the Continental Shelf  (EMEPC) and Centro Cultural de Belém (CCB/Fábrica das Artes).
