Rendez Vous With Marlene is a show based on a three-hour telephone conversation between the legendary Marlene Dietrich and the international star Ute Lemper, in 1988, in Paris. After receiving the Molière Prize for her performance at Cabaret in Paris, Ute sent a postcard to Marlene, apologizing for all the media’s attention, which compared her to Marlene Dietrich. Lemper was at the beginning of his career, in theater and music, while Dietrich already had a long and fulfilled life of films, music, incredible collaborations, love stories and stardom. In this presentation, Ute Lemper shares the story of Marlene singing fabulous songs from all the chapters of her life, from the years of the Berlin cabaret to her incredible collaborations with Burt Bacharach. The songs include Where Have All the Flowers Gone, I’ve Grown Accustomed to Her Face, Blowin ’in the Wind and Just a Gigolo, among others.

Júlio Resende
The new album by the pianist and composer Júlio Resende, Júlio Resende Fado Jazz Ensemble, was released simultaneously in Portugal and Spain. As the title itself states, it is a surprising and original combination of two musical styles: fado and jazz.
It consists of original tracks composed by Júlio Resende, with arrangements of traditional songs such as Lira, including for the first time the lyrics of the only song performed by the fado singer Lina Rodrigues, in Profecia. This album also enjoys the participation of musicians such as Alexandre Frazão on drums, André Rosinha on double-bass and Bruno Chaveiro on Portuguese guitar.
On 2 October, Júlio Resende will be presenting this new work on stage in the CCB’s Main Auditorium.
«It is an arrow with a sucker tip, fired at a target known as the “bosom”. As to the record itself, it is a free album, in which the Portuguese guitar and piano intersect with one another, and, in conjunction with the double-bass and drums, they try to make the most of this new place that they are strolling around and discovering together. Whether it’s fado or whether it’s jazz, I don’t know. It could be both, but in reality I don’t know, because those who know normally don’t move forward. Those who already know are stuck in that knowledge and don’t move from there. I prefer not to know, just to move and go. Free. Like the sound.» – Júlio Resende
L.U.M.E. – Lisbon Underground Music Ensemble
L.U.M.E. – an ensemble of 15 musicians who all share the same vision, searching for unexpected and unlikely paths in the constant tension between composition and improvisation – will be presenting their third album of original music at the CCB, Las Californias, in which the group reveals new aesthetic perspectives, a kind of kaleidoscope of open horizons, in a permanent doubt that suspends thought.
John Pizzarelli
John Pizzarelli pays tribute to Nat ‘King’ Cole, one of the most beloved jazz stars of the 20th century.
John Pizzarelli returns to Portugal to present For Centennial Reasons, his third tribute to the legendary musician whose timeless music reached the top of the pop charts (“pop” at the time was often synonymous with “jazz”) more than 100 times during his life, remaining among the most recognizable songs of the Great American Songbook.
André Rosinha Trio
The trio led by the double-bass player André Rosinha, and also comprising pianist João Paulo Esteves da Silva and drummer Marcos Cavaleiro, presented last summer their first album at CCB, entitled Árvore, a concert that you can watch online on March 20th at Ticketline Live Stage.
This trio’s music is open to new experiences and new paths, exploring various concepts of individual and collective improvisation under the influence of various musical styles, such as jazz, Latin American music, folk and classical music.
This is music that is fed by the present moment and the interaction between the three group members, with a lot of room for improvisation, so that the musicians taking part in the process can explore their musical personalities.
Marta Hugon
All songs are born from a profound desire to make music and poetry. Coração na Boca, the new work by Marta Hugon is born from this same desire, but it is, at the same time. a kind of musical rebirth. Singing exclusively in Portuguese, Marta reveals her true voice and gives substance to her own words and those of authors such as José Eduardo Agualusa, Afonso Cabral and Nádia Schilling. Marta Hugon’s new repertoire, which will be presented at this concert, has been produced and arranged by Luís Figueiredo, benefiting from the collaboration of such diverse composers as Mário Laginha, Sara Tavares, Joana Espadinha, Maria Villanueva and Francisca Cortesão. We will be taken on an emotional journey through the Portuguese language where music seeks out a place that transcends all labels.
