The CCB and OPART hereby inform that, for reasons beyond the control of both institutions, conductor Alondra de la Parra will be unable to conduct the concert Scheherazade, by Rimsky-Korsakov, scheduled for 7 June. She will be replaced by José María Moreno Valiente, Principal Conductor of the Málaga Philharmonic Orchestra.
The Portuguese Symphony Orchestra presents a programme entirely dedicated to sound worlds and imagery stretching from Andalusia to the Middle East. The concert opens with the suite from El amor brujo by Manuel de Falla, immersing audiences in the mystical and sensual atmosphere of Andalusian folklore. This is followed by the symphonic poem Till Eulenspiegels lustige Streiche, in which Richard Strauss vividly recreates, with virtuosity and humour, the adventures of the legendary trickster hero of German folklore. Bringing the evening to a close, Scheherazade by Rimsky-Korsakov captivates with its melodic exoticism and dazzling orchestral colours, transforming the timeless tales of One Thousand and One Nights into sound.
Three works that reinvent myths and traditions through the symphonic language, exploring different geographies, atmospheres and styles in a concert where music becomes narrative, colour and emotion.
Pre-concert talk by Rui Campos Leitão.
