Curated by Francisco Gonzalez de Canales of the London Architectural Association, the exhibition represents the first major retrospective of the work of the contemporary Spanish architect Rafael Moreno, winner of the 1996 Pritzker Prize and the 2012 Prince of Asturias Award for the Arts. It consists of five biographical sections spanning the whole of Rafael Moneo’s career and presenting 46 projects, 18 architect’s models, 142 photographs and 98 original drawings, including his design for the National Museum of Roman Art in Merida, which is considered to be one of his most emblematic works.

The choice of materials emphasises the importance of the drawing as a fundamental medium for architects to develop their work and define their own thoughts, with this being the first time that such a significant group of original drawings has been publicly displayed, enabling visitors to see and understand Rafael Moneo’s practice and thought.
