The Ugandan xylophone is an ancient instrument that has been redesigned and developed. The central musical instrument of this workshop is the Amadinda. It is one of the numerous derivations of the Ugandan xylophone. Unlike Western music practices, where there is a common meter as a starting point, in Ugandan music we start from individuality in the rhythmic pulse as the beginning of a community relationship.
In this collective workshop, participants will be able to get to know and explore the sounds of Amadinda, performing rhythmic exercises inspired by Ugandan music patterns where they simultaneously develop the sense of pulse and the notion of setback.
