anesthetize generates an experience that comes close to what we might consider to be a state of anaesthesia or meditation. It has a dense and immersive atmosphere, perhaps due to the similar appearance of its three performers, all of whom are dressed in black, camouflaged in front of an equally black stage set.
Through repetitive cycles of movements and gestures, anesthetize is transformed into an ambiguous and mysterious experience, not only as an atmosphere, but also in terms of gender, in the sense that it is not clear whether the three performers are women or men. One of the aims of the piece was to create an immersive environment that could “hypnotise” the audience, while they enter into a kind of vortex, from which, at a certain point in the performance, there is a ricochet and they are catapulted to another place/state.
