With only two LPs released – the independent and well-received Cara d’Anjo (2015, Gentle Records) and the highly acclaimed Luís Severo (2017, Cuca Monga/Sony Music) – Luís Severo was already one of the most popular singer-songwriters of his generation.
After the release of the album with his own name, in the spring of 2017, he toured Portugal alone until the summer of 2018, when he appeared at the country’s main festivals accompanied by a band.
In May 2019, without any warning, he released O Sol Voltou, once again on the Cuca Monga label in partnership with Sony Music. His third album offered an agreeable clash between acoustic and electronic music, bringing us conciliatory lyrical disputes and filled with contrasting images, which caused Luís Severo to move away from what he had already done without losing the middle ground that was a particular feature of his work.
Luís Severo has brought together the band – Bernardo Álvares, Catarina Branco and Diogo Rodrigues – that will help him to bring his music to the CCB, whose texture on stage is just as perfect as the one he produces in his studio recordings.
