Music
Born in Siberia, pianist and composer Julia Perminova has developed a musical language spanning jazz, classical music and contemporary expression, drawing inspiration from figures such as Thelonious Monk, Sergei Prokofiev and Sergei Rachmaninoff. Her music, described by pianist Aaron Parks as «imaginative, colourful and poetic», reflects an artistic journey shaped by dialogue between different cultures and traditions.
Formed seven years ago in Amsterdam, while Julia was studying at the conservatoire, the Julia Perminova Trio currently brings together Julia Perminova on piano, Portuguese drummer Luís Possollo and French double bassist Matis Regnault. The musicians’ different backgrounds and sensibilities give rise to a vibrant and deeply interactive musical language in which composition and improvisation come together.
Having performed across Europe, Asia and South America, the trio is known for intense, immersive concerts characterised by musical storytelling, spontaneous dialogue between the musicians and a strong emotional dimension.
The Centro Cultural de Belém Foundation reserves the right to collect, store and use recordings of image, sound and voice, for the purposes of dissemination and for preserving the memory of its cultural and artistic activities, as well as its spaces.
