Temporary exhibition
May 5th – September 22nd, 2024 Performance: May 5th, 12 pm | Opening: June 19th, 7pm
Exhibition
Introspective is a retroprospective of the body of (and in the) work of João Fiadeiro that will take place in the galleries of the Museum of Contemporary Art and in the theatres of the CCB.
In the Museum, the project will occupy three galleries and consist of two parts. In the first, during the month of May, the central curatorial axis will be the concept of “construction site.” The exhibition setup will be accessible to visitors and transformed into a daily happening, with presentations of dramaturgical and choreographic devices, real-time compositions and improvisations, re-enactments, open classes, and guided tours. In a second phase, starting from 19 June, visitors will have access to the exhibition RESTOS, RASTROS E TRAÇOS [REMNANTS, TRACES, AND MARKS], which, as the name indicates, will host what has “remained behind” from the live experiences and experimentations of the first part of the event; and to the exhibition I AM (not) HERE, based on Fiadeiro’s work I AM HERE (premiered in 2004 at CCB), which in turn was inspired by the imagery of visual artist Helena Almeida. Finally, this second phase will feature a dedicated room showcasing various objects collaboratively created by João Fiadeiro and artists with whom he has crossed paths over the past thirty years.
At CCB, specifically in the Black Box and the Small Auditorium, between 21 June and 6 July, DAR CORPO [TO EMBODY] will be presented. As the title indicates, this programme will consist of a selection of pieces from João Fiadeiro’s repertoire to be performed by himself, guest artists, and performers from new generations.
