In this Cabinet of Curiosities, we are confronted with part of the research that gave substance, imagination and choreographic material to the process for the creation of Jonas&Lander’s show Bate Fado. The show’s main vehicle is a caricature, which is viewed from the very beginning as a diary of the society of its time, with the audience being shown for the first time previously unpublished images from the late nineteenth/early twentieth century, in which the Fado Batido is represented in abundance, as well as the whole of its social context. Among other works centred on the theme of Fado dances, three documentaries are also exhibited about the danced Fado of Quissamã in Rio de Janeiro, where the practice of dancing Fado as a form of tap dancing with clapping is still maintained today.
