Francisca Carvalho’s work is rooted in the manipulation of symbols and signs drawn from diverse geographies—experiences the artist has absorbed and transformed into collages, drawings, patterns, texts, paintings, and textiles. This solo exhibition showcases her complex, vertiginous narratives, composed from a blend of multiple sources into a rich and distinctive visual vocabulary. Alongside a broad selection of works on paper, the show explores research undertaken by the artist in India—particularly in the regions of Rajasthan and Gujarat—where she studied traditional techniques of pattern-making, natural dyes, kalamkari, and hand-block printing, as well as experimental work with glass.
