Dance

A collage of fantasies, gestures and chance encounters, built around the individuality of five performers. In Este Mundo, five performers walk, breathe, curl up, roll, come together and move apart. They dance for the sheer pleasure of it, or are simply there. Bouchra Ouizguen draws on these simple gestures and on what each person brings with them to create a piece in which no one has to resemble anyone else.

Bárbara is lightness. Sofia, verticality. Sara, warmth and energy. Telmo, weight and stability. Joana, suspension and balance. These are not characters, but qualities from which gestures, images and relationships are created. Este Mundo brings together things that do not need to match. Fado, bells, echoes that bring Madeira and Morocco closer together, the rhythms and vibrant colours of Bollywood. Personal fantasies, everyday gestures, memories, chance, humour, silence and the pleasure of doing something simply for the sake of it. Perhaps that is what keeps this world alive: people together, without any of them having to give up what makes them unique in order to share the same space.
