Di/STRAUSS Technique is a participatory music and dance performance conceived to stimulate the audience’s spirit, vocal courage, physical freedom, and sense of desire.
Drawing inspiration from the music of Johann Strauss II, the “Waltz King”, Ivo Dimchev composes ten songs of a therapeutic nature and creates playful choreographies that explore the psychophysical well-being of the contemporary individual. Themes such as sexual autonomy, emotional resilience, financial anxiety, self-love, and divine absurdity are explored through music, movement, and audience interaction.
The performance unfolds as a collective ritual of joy and irreverence, blending queer humour with operatic kitsch.
Equipped with cotton bags filled with ribbons, fans, pom-poms, and other objects, spectators become active participants: they sing, move, laugh, confess, and reclaim their own voices.
Performed in English with English surtitles.
Warning: This performance contains alcohol consumption and explicit/strong language.
