Garagem Sul + live broadcast
To conclude the exhibition Our Land Is the Sea public program, this session will combine two presentations in a conversation about codfish. Karl Otto Ellefsen, professor at the School of Architecture and Design in Oslo, will present various stages and processes of urban development associated with cod fishing in northern Norway. André Tavares, co-curator of the exhibition and programmer at Garagem Sul, will examine some equivalent examples of construction in Newfoundland and Portugal. In conversation with Diego Inglez de Souza, we return to the fundamental question of the exhibition: How do environmental and ecological circumstances give shape and meaning to construction practices of landscape and architecture? How do codfish construct the space we inhabit on land?
This event is part of Codfish Architecture program, financed by EEA Grants Portugal through the Fund for Bilateral Relations.
