Literature
Public history is returning to the CCB. More than ever, there is an urgent need to think about the future by critically revisiting the past, for a broad and non-academic audience, who are called upon to participate in these Conversations with History.
On 16 May, we will be bringing Eduardo Gageiro to the CCB.
Eduardo Gageiro was born in Sacavém, on 16 February, 1935. Working in the office at the Fábrica de Loiça de Sacavém from 1947 to 1957, he came into daily contact with painters, sculptors and factory workers, who influenced his decision to take up photojournalism. He began his activity as a photographic reporter with Diário Ilustrado, in 1957. He was a photographer for Século Ilustrado and the Associated Press, and collaborated with leading national and international magazines. Throughout his career, he published more than two dozen books with such highly regarded writers as António Lobo Antunes, José Saramago, José Mattoso, José Cardoso Pires, Sophia de Mello Breyner Andersen and Lídia Jorge.
