Le quattro stagioni by Vivaldi are one of the most famous works in the history of music. Is it possible to find an «alternative version» of these acrobatic violin concertos with even more colors and surprising effects? How would they sound when played by the great German violinist Pisendel, student and friend of Vivaldi, and the court orchestra of Dresden, Saxony? As imaginative and rich in contrasts as the concertos «con molti strumenti» that the Venetian composer wrote for his friend and to the most famous European orchestra of his time? In them, alongside the omnipresent violin — here an incredible instrument by Francesco Rugeri, made in Cremona in 1680, and splendidly played by the virtuoso Alfia Bakieva — pairs of flutes, oboes and horns shine, but also the bassoon, cello and harpsichord. This concert is a unique opportunity to rediscover Vivaldi’s masterpieces, both the most and least known, all performed with the combination of historical rigor and the ever-current enthusiasm that the Ludovice Ensemble has accustomed us to.
