«There’s a great sense of community, between the dancers, the on-stage musicians and the audience too. You can tell that this really means something to Liñán and that’s powerful.»
Lindsy Winship, The Guardian, June 22nd 2022
«You haven’t heard applause and cheers like that in years in a Spanish dance performance. The enthusiasm at times brushed the Roman circus and that ended with everyone on their feet, with a merry ending more than debatable.»
Roger Salas, El País, February 9th 2019
«When I was little I locked myself in my room and dressed in my mother’s green skirt. He adorned my hair with flowers, made up my makeup, and danced secretly. That dance was unthinkable outside those four walls.»
From this intimate memory of childhood, Viva is born, in circumstances where social and artistic rules impose in some way that the artist must manifest himself according to his gender. After the illusion, desire and need have been isolated, remaining silent for years, Viva sees the light, recalling those moments. Leaving open that door that separates, what became private with the public.
A cry for the freedom of transformation, which does not always imply a way of masking, but rather nudity.
As a celebration key, Liñán proposes the plurality of dance, the different forms and the uniqueness of each one of them. Together with six bailaores-dancers, who will be in charge of exploring and diving into this fascinating universe of transvestism, and thus expose the formal part of these identities, which form our own nature.
