Drawing inspiration from the music by Jacques Brel — singer, composer and author of several seminal songs of the 20th century —, Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker — dancer, choreographer and a leading figure in contemporary dance over the last 45 years — joined forces with the young dancer and choreographer Solal Mariotte in order to create a show born from the meeting of the universes of these three people, spanning three different generations. What does remain from Brel’s legacy? How can we choreograph Brel’s words so that nowadays they continue to speak to us? Anne Teresa and Solal Mariotte found inspiration in this complexity and in the tensions inherent to Brel’s life and repertoire.
