Temporary exhibition MAC/CCB
Exhibition
António Bolota’s professional background as an engineer enabled him to revitalise and give new temporary purposes to old, repurposed buildings. This led him to establish and support a number of independent exhibition spaces in Lisbon, including Bartolomeu 5 (2003–2004), Avenida 211 (2004–2012), and Ar Sólido (programmed by Bolota and Marco Pires from 2013 to 2015).
Located in a magnificent building on Avenida da Liberdade, the Avenida 211 space (2004–2012) became a vital hub where artists could create and showcase their work. These artist-run spaces included Kunsthalle Lissabon, Parkour, Barbershop, Escritório, and Sala Bebé. This exhibition offers an insight into a whole generation of artists through a living archive that revisits and updates the exhibitions and events that took place there.
