Cindy Sissokho is a curator, cultural producer, art consultant, and writer with a particular interest in anti-colonial, social, and political practices in the fields of art and culture. In this guided tour, Sissokho brings the practices of Lubaina Himid and Frida Orupabo into dialogue. A central figure in the British Black Arts Movement, Himid has devoted her work to recovering histories and presences erased from official narratives. Orupabo, meanwhile, works with photographic archives and images found online, exploring questions of race, gender, memory, and representation through collage and montage. The tour offers an opportunity to reflect on how both artists reimagine the image as a space of resistance, repair, and critical imagination.
