The Caminho Pedonal (Pedestrian Path) is the street that divides the Centro Cultural de Belém into two symmetrical halves, leading to the Performing Arts Centre and, further on, the CCB Plaza.
The Centro Cultural de Belém Foundation reserves the right to collect, store and use recordings of image, sound and voice, for the purposes of dissemination and for preserving the memory of its cultural and artistic activities, as well as its spaces. Recently it was given the name of “Caminho José Saramago”, in homage to the Portuguese winner of the Nobel Prize for Literature (1998). Being flanked by shops and galleries on either side, the relatively opaque light of this path is offset by bridges, where the light of the city and the river take hold of the place and establish a direct relationship with the world outside.
