Sexta Maior

As part of the Sexta Maior series, Pedro Burmester presents his renewed interpretation of Johann Sebastian Bach’s Goldberg Variations, performed “in pure intuition,” as Valter Hugo Mãe once wrote. Decades after his first recording, Burmester returns to this monumental work with the freedom of a master and the maturity of one who truly inhabits it from within. Each variation assumes its own identity in an emotional journey that oscillates between luminous restraint and deeply felt introspection.

In connection with this recital, the lecture Variations on the Variation by Paulo Ferreira de Castro will take place in the Lopes-Graça Room on the same day, 30 January, at 18:30.
