Opera + Conversation – Premiere
This is an opera about the voice — the voice as memory, as a boundary between the public and private spheres, between spaces of intimacy and social connection. It tells the story of Catarina Sargenta, known as “Ti Chitas” (1913–2003): shepherd, singer, and adufe player. Born in Penha Garcia, in the municipality of Idanha-a-Nova, her musical artistry and creativity were documented through numerous phonographic and cinematic records.
In this performance, strobe lighting is used.
