Premiered on Broadway in 1957, West Side Story blends Latin rhythms, jazz, and symphonic tradition in Bernstein’s timeless score. Inspired by Romeo and Juliet, it tells a tragic love story between rival gangs. This concert also features Gershwin’s Catfish Row, Artie Shaw’s swing-era clarinet concerto, and a new work by Pedro Moreira, commissioned by CCB.
