Three voices of Italian music from the first half of the 20th century reveal, between tradition and modernity, the fascination with historical heritage and the power of symphonic languages in those turbulent decades. By bringing to the stage the music of Malipiero, Castelnuovo-Tedesco, and Respighi, this program will give voice to three ways of linking Italian identity to an international modernity, projecting national tradition in the light of new musical horizons.
The award-winning Italian violinist Domenico Nordio, one of the best in Europe today, will be the guest soloist in this concert at the Centro Cultural de Belém, accompanied by the Portuguese Symphony Orchestra under the direction of conductor Antonio Pirolli.
Pre-concert talk by Bernardo Mariano.
