Perhaps we need to protect, organize, and reclaim what makes us Human. We might use social structures to serve dimensions beyond the functional or profitable, defending what seems dispensable or useless. A Ministery for the Sensible could uphold sensitivity as a path toward Humanity.
This project envisions a shared space for encounter and reflection, empowering a community of cultural participants who, with art as an ally, embrace sensibility as a way to build social and political connections.
Creation & Coordination Sara Franqueira
The project will start with two sectors: the Department of the Spectator and the Institute of the Invisible. Both offer scheduled meetings and access to performances throughout the year. If you’re curious and eager to discover the spectator within you, one of these groups is ready for you.
The Centro Cultural de Belém Foundation reserves the right to collect, store and use recordings of image, sound and voice, for the purposes of dissemination and for preserving the memory of its cultural and artistic activities, as well as its spaces. Departament of The Spectator
Saturdays, January 24, February 7 and 21, March 14 and 28, April 11 and 18, May 9 and 23, June 6 and 20, July 4, September 12, October 10 and November 14
For all audiences aged 18 and over.
The Department of the Spectator is a programme of regular gatherings for audiences who wish to question, reflect, and share their sensibility. In collective sessions, participants exchange interpretations, explore creative tools, and meet artists and projects. It is a space to recognise the power of observing (to imagine, share, and transform) through artistic experiences that deepen our Humanity.
If you’re a militant of the sensitive, an appreciator of sensibility, and fascinated by the performing arts as journeys into these territories, this department longs for your presence.

Institute of the Invisible
Saturdays, 3:00–5:00 pm
March 28, April 11 and 18, May 9 and 23, June 6 and 20, July 4, September 12 and 26, October 10 and 24, November 14 and 21
For audiences interested in engaging in artistic practices, aged 18 to 27.
This sector of the Ministry of the Sensitive is a space for reflection and experimentation, for debate and testing of visions and methodologies within artistic practices. An alternative research centre that seeks to bring forth and make shareable the invisible: the layers of meaning, power, and communication inherent in art as both object and action.
Through collective sessions interspersed with performances, rehearsals, and conversations with artists, we will establish a safe space for shared learning, where the expanded field of the performing arts is listened to, analysed, and practised. Within an institution, we will institute conversations in freedom, difficult questions, and divergent ideas.
If your field of study or interest intersects with artistic creation, and no matter how many things you do there is always room for diverse performances, new discoveries, and shared growth, you belong to this institute.
