“It’s curious to think that a musician used to regular solo concerts waited nineteen years to record a second piano album. The reason is simple: I was always involved in varied projects, and sharing music always came first. But at last, here it is.

Unlike Canções e Fugas, Retorno has a freer structure, combining composed themes with improvisations created during the recording. My partnership with Camané helped me drop the barriers I had built between myself and fado, opening the music to new influences.

After nineteen years, I return to a solitude that was never unfamiliar to me.”
