With Wonder Women, L’Arpeggiata and Christina Pluhar present a celebration of the creative strength, expressiveness, and artistic legacy of women across the centuries. At the heart of this program are remarkable works by 17th-century women composers such as Barbara Strozzi, Francesca Caccini, and Antonia Bembo. Long overshadowed by their male contemporaries, these artists played a fundamental role in shaping a singular musical language marked by boldness, sensitivity, and originality.
The soloists Céline Scheen, Benedetta Mazzucato, and Vincenzo Capezzuto bring to life tragic and comic narratives inhabited by passionate heroines, mystical saints, enchanting figures, and ordinary characters confronted with the universal themes of love, destiny, and devotion.
Pre-concert talk Cesário Costa at 4:30 pm.
