Documentary (Premiere) + Conference
How can we talk to children about war — and learn from what they have to say about fear, conflict and living together?
Taking Guerra e Paz, a performance created by Estrutura for children, as its starting point, this accredited conference for teachers offers a space for dialogue between art, education, citizenship and critical thinking. At the heart of the programme is a screening of the documentary Aprender a Paz, which follows the creative process behind the performance.
Rather than simply “speaking to” children and young people, Aprender a Paz affirms the need to imagine alongside them.
Throughout the conference, young participants will also play an active role in the discussion, bringing questions, perspectives and experiences that challenge adult perceptions of what it means to educate for peace today. Bringing together artistic creation, educational reflection and civic participation, the event will feature Joana Ricarte, Madalena Wallenstein, José Nunes, Cátia Pinheiro and Paulo Pires do Vale in a dialogue spanning cultural programming, philosophy, theatre and education.
The Centro Cultural de Belém Foundation reserves the right to collect, store and use recordings of image, sound and voice, for the purposes of dissemination and for preserving the memory of its cultural and artistic activities, as well as its spaces.
