CCB shares its commitment to Culture for All on RFM
Rita Romão, member of the Board of Directors of the Centro Cultural de Belém Foundation, took part on 17 September in a special RFM broadcast dedicated to Cultura para Todos (Culture for All), as part of the programme “Sem Olhar a Quem”.
During the interview, Rita Romão discussed the work CCB has been developing in the area of accessibility, within the framework of the RE-VISITAR 2026–2030 Strategic Plan, in which hospitality plays a central role.
For CCB, accessibility is a prerequisite for everyone to participate, enjoy culture and feel expected. This commitment has been translated into concrete measures across its spaces, programming and engagement with different audiences.
From 11 accessible sessions held in 2025, CCB expects to increase this number to 16 in 2026 and 24 in 2027 — more than doubling the number in two years. For audio description, the number will more than triple, from 3 sessions in 2025 to 10 planned for 2027.
This work also extends to MAC/CCB, with Portuguese Sign Language tours and projects aimed at different audiences, as well as improvements to accessibility throughout the building.
CCB recognises that barriers remain and there is still work to be done. Beyond providing resources, the aim is to inform, welcome and ensure that everyone feels expected.
It is an ongoing process, guided by a clear principle: culture only happens when it reaches everyone.
