The Brazilian vocal group Boca Livre presents Boca Canta Edu at Centro Cultural de Belém, a concert celebrating the music of Edu Lobo featuring the composer as a special guest.
The programme is based on the album of the same name, in which the quartet revisits eleven songs spanning different periods of Edu Lobo’s career. From Arrastão, the earliest work in the programme, to songs such as Candeias, Corrida de Jangada, and Veneta, Boca Livre reimagines this repertoire through the vocal arrangements and distinctive musical identity for which the group is renowned.
The relationship between Boca Livre and Edu Lobo dates back to 1978, when the composer recognised in the quartet a new voice within the tradition of Brazilian vocal groups. This collaboration led to the group’s participation in the album Camaleão and its accompanying concert tour, marking the beginning of an artistic partnership that has endured for decades.
The Centro Cultural de Belém Foundation reserves the right to collect, store and use recordings of image, sound and voice, for the purposes of dissemination and for preserving the memory of its cultural and artistic activities, as well as its spaces.
