“I regularly wake up a couple of minutes before my alarm clock rings […] to avoid the traumatic experience of being woken.”
Slavoj Žižek (Too Late to Awaken: What Lies Ahead When There Is No Future)
LEX is a company that survives within a rigid hierarchical system, where the strongest—or at least the cleverest—comes out on top, yet everyone is considered part of the family. They are all employees, but the market is free to do as it pleases.
Jorge, a single father, works at LEX. Clinging to false hopes of a better future, he submissively accepts every demand made by his superiors. He is pushed into an innovative productivity programme to prove his commitment—and his debt—to the company. (It’s going to be so worth it!) The effort will surely be rewarded, and hope is always the last to die. Except that the person dies first, and only then does hope.
