We are working to make the CCB an increasingly accessible space.
On this page you will find information about the accessibility of our facilities.
If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact us at acessibilidade@ccb.pt or by calling our Support Line: +351 213 612 435 (call to the national landline network).
All events are accessible to people with physical disabilities. For events offering Portuguese Sign Language interpretation, audio description, relaxed performances or other accessibility provisions, please check the CCB programme here.

The Centro Cultural de Belém has sessions with Portuguese Sign Language interpretation for deaf people.

The Belém Cultural Centre offers sessions with audio description for blind and visually impaired people.

The CCB informs the public on its various communication platforms regarding the light, sound, or other conditions of a show, such as strobe lights.
Braille Activity Program
The Centro Cultural de Belém provides two activity programmes in Braille. You may consult them at the CCB Box Office or at the MAC/CCB Reception.
Online: Full information is available HERE on how to purchase tickets, as well as on the discounts granted to people with disabilities, deaf people and their companions.
In person: The CCB Box Office is accessible for people with reduced mobility, although the access ramp has a slightly steep gradient. All the service counters are lowered.
a) Access to the Auditoriums
The Main Auditorium provides 12 spaces for people with reduced mobility.
The Small Auditorium provides 4 spaces for people with reduced mobility.
The Black Box provides 2 spaces for people with reduced mobility and their companions.
b) Access to MAC/CCB and CCB
Access to the MAC/CCB and the CCB may be via Praça do Império or through the car parks. In either case, it is necessary to use a lifting platform to go up a flight of stairs. Alternatively, visitors may use one of the side ramps, on the Planetarium side or on the Avenida Marginal side. These ramps, however, may present difficulties for those who don’t move independently.
At the entrance there is a small step of approximately 4 cm. From that point onwards, the route is step free. An adapted toilet is available near the Box Office, in the locker area, and another is located in a seating area on the floor -1.
c) Pedestrian Access to the Congress and Meetings Centre
Pedestrian access to the Congress and Meetings Centre may be done via Praça do Império. However, the gradient of the ramp on the CCB façade may prove challenging for some users. For that reason, we recommend using the lifting platform located along the pedestrian route.
d) Access to the Architecture Centre — South Garage
Access is via an alternative entrance with good accessibility conditions. The internal route is step free and does not present obstacles for those using mobility aids.
Access to the car park for people with reduced mobility should preferably be via Car Park 2, floor 0, on Avenida da Índia. This car park is open every day from 8 am to midnight, except on 25 December. On performance days, it closes at 2 am.
Car Park 2 provides access to the Pedestrian Route, the Box Office, the Auditorium Entrance and the Congress Centre via a lifting platform, with a maximum capacity of 150 kg. If you park in the floor -1 of the Car Park 2, please use the lift to the floor 0 and then take the lifting platform.
There are also designated parking spaces for people with reduced mobility in Car Park 1, although this car park only offers step free access to the Congress Centre.
At the pedestrian entrance to the Congress Centre, there are two free parking spaces on the street for people with a parking permit.
Parking in the CCB car parks is paid.
The car park doors may be heavy for some users. For assistance, please call +351 213 612 435 (call to the portuguese landline network) and let us know where you are. A member of our staff will be happy to help.
Carris
15E, 79B*, 201*, 714, 727, 728, 729, 751*.
* – These routes may occasionally operate buses that are not accessible to wheelchair users, although this is unlikely.
Note: Route 15E is operated by trams. Only the newer generation trams are accessible via a ramp. You can identify the accessible trams visually, the front is rounded and they display a fleet number beginning with 6, together with the word CAF beneath the number. The blue button on the tram doors must be pressed so that the manual ramp can be deployed by the conductor.
Carris Metropolitana

Train
At the moment, Belém station does not meet the necessary accessibility conditions for wheelchair users. Passengers with other needs, who are able to use stairs, should take the footbridge at the far end of the platforms, with exit towards the National Coach Museum. The pedestrian route to the CCB does not have tactile pavement.
Public Car Parks
Rua de Belém Car Park
Car park located next to McDonald’s restaurant and Pastéis de Belém, with paid access and entry control, including designated spaces for people with reduced mobility.
Jardim Afonso de Albuquerque Car Park
Car park located next to the garden with the same name, with limited accessibility conditions. However, this park has some designated spaces available for people with reduced mobility.
The CCB has several accessible sanitary facilities on different floors and duly signposted (Main Auditorium, 2nd Floor; Small Auditorium; Fábrica das Artes; and MAC/CCB).
Access to bars, cafes, and restaurants does not present mobility constraints. However, the counters are not lowered.
Wheelchairs are available at the reception’s cloakroom and in both auditoriums and are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
