The London Mozart Players, the oldest chamber orchestra in the United Kingdom, was founded over 75 years ago by Harry Blech with the purpose of performing the works of Mozart and Haydn.
Over the decades, the orchestra’s repertoire has expanded to embrace bold, ambitious, and accessible musical experiences for a wide variety of audiences. It continues its long-standing tradition of supporting emerging talent — among them Nicola Benedetti, Jacqueline du Pré, and Jan Pascal Tortellier, three of many young virtuosos who were encouraged by the LMP early in their careers.
On their visit to Portugal, the renowned London ensemble will perform Shostakovich’s Cello Concerto No. 1, featuring cellist Filipe Quaresma, and Mozart’s final and monumental symphony, No. 41 Jupiter, a work of singular grandeur in Western music.
The Centro Cultural de Belém Foundation reserves the right to collect, store and use recordings of image, sound and voice, for the purposes of dissemination and for preserving the memory of its cultural and artistic activities, as well as its spaces.
