Music
The 23rd edition of the Festa do Jazz takes place from 19 to 21 December at the Centro Cultural de Belém, bringing together artists, agents, and jazz schools from across the country in a programme dedicated to the expansion of jazz sonorities and their most liberating oral expressions.
Analogik is a quartet of original and improvised music, marked by unique textures, sinuous melodies, and labyrinthine rhythms. It explores the art of counterpoint, freedom, and rhythmic abstraction, imagining universes that are easily created and destroyed, that anticipate, connect, and diverge from the music as initially conceived. Formed in late 2023 by double bassist Zé Almeida, with Mariana Dionísio (voice), Adèle Viret (cello), and Samuel Ber (drums), the group released the album Sístole in 2024, where composition and improvisation coexist in constant metamorphosis — a systole on its way to its diastole.
One of hilde’s greatest strengths lies in their ability to find utterly unexpected — sometimes even audaciously bold — connections between abstract sonic invention and the grace of tradition. This rare gift reveals itself most vividly in their live performances, where four musicians merge into a single entity: hilde, a being with four heads and eight arms, confronting us with overwhelming gentleness in Tide. Each piece stands on its own, yet the order is far from arbitrary — hilde tells a story that must be heard from the first to the last sound. Their intuitive unity rests on a dependable benevolence that allows them to reach the limit and touch the most intimate.
