BENEFIT CONCERT
The CCB Foundation and OPART will donate the entire revenue from this performance to the Association of Philharmonic Bands of the Municipality of Leiria and to Sport Operário Marinhense, two institutions whose cultural presence is deeply rooted in the area recently affected by Storm Kristin. This initiative stems from a genuine desire to support the recovery of their infrastructures, which suffered significant damage, and to ensure that the cultural work they carry out in their communities can continue with the same dedication and close connection as always.

From the first creative impulse to the unfinished farewell, this concert traverses the work of Gustav Mahler, beginning with the testament of his final symphony and ending with his youthful vision.
The Adagio from Symphony No. 10, composed in the Summer of 1910, is the only movement substantially completed of the work left unfinished by death. A dissonant and intense score, it reflects the awareness of finitude and the composer’s inner conflict, becoming a singular testimony of his ultimate symphonic gesture, whereas Das Klagende Lied, written between 1878 and 1880, already reveals a young Mahler fascinated by theatricality and by the orchestral palette of timbres.
A specialist in the late-Romantic German repertoire, conductor Graeme Jenkins returns to Lisbon to lead the Orquestra Sinfónica Portuguesa, the Coro do Teatro Nacional São Carlos, and a distinguished cast of singers. A concert retracing, in retrospect, Mahler’s creative life.
Pre-concert talk by Alexandre Delgado.
