Roots and Routes
“Roots and Routes” is an architecture, research, and art project by Frame Colectivo and Batoto Yetu Portugal, centred on Lisbon’s centenary trees. It collectively investigates urban coloniality, cultural resistance, and the interdependence between human and non-human beings, designing artistic-political interventions that integrate restorative ancestral epistemologies. The project envisions an artistic installation and guided walks that reframe Lisbon’s arboreal landscape through a decolonial lens, disrupting ossified narratives and reintegrating the histories of displacement and exploitation of species transported from occupied territories.

Frame Colectivo
Frame Colectivo is a Lisbon-based architectural studio exploring the intersections of architecture, urbanism, and art through interdisciplinary collaborations. Since 2013, its research has focused on public and semi-public urban spaces, where it implements context-driven collective projects. The studio designs interventions that challenge dominant urban micropolitics and promote civic participation. It regularly collaborates with artists to develop new methodologies for horizontal communication within architecture.
