Four French works highlight the orchestra’s rich timbres. Dukas tells The Sorcerer’s Apprentice (1897), Saint-Saëns blends solemnity and virtuosity in the 2nd Piano Concerto (1868), Debussy explores the faun’s dreams (Prélude l’après-midi d’un faune, 1894), and Ravel crafts a vivid soundscape in Daphnis et Chloé (1912).
