{"id":306616,"date":"2026-06-18T09:18:11","date_gmt":"2026-06-18T08:18:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ccb.pt\/evento\/pais-distante\/"},"modified":"2026-10-27T12:08:19","modified_gmt":"2026-10-27T12:08:19","slug":"pais-distante","status":"publish","type":"tribe_events","link":"https:\/\/www.ccb.pt\/en\/evento\/pais-distante\/","title":{"rendered":"Pa\u00eds Distante"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Jo\u00e3o Paulo Esteves da Silva&#8217;s new album, <em>Pa\u00eds Distante<\/em>, marks a doubly significant milestone in the Portuguese music scene: on the one hand, it celebrates 30 years of recordings by the composer and pianist, whose debut album under his own name, <em>Serra sem Fim<\/em>, dates back to 1995; on the other, it inaugurates the new Artway Jazz catalogue, an imprint of Artway Editions that promises to become a reference point for Portuguese jazz.<br \/>\nRecorded at La Buissonne studio in the south of France, <em>Pa\u00eds Distante<\/em> features a newly formed quartet, with Julian Arg\u00fcelles on tenor and soprano saxophones, Rodrigo Correia on double bass and Jos\u00e9 Salgueiro on drums. The repertoire includes both compositions by Esteves da Silva and a series of collective improvisations with a strong compositional focus. Moving between Portuguese jazz, European jazz, avant-garde jazz, classical music and rock, the album can be seen as an extraordinarily concise synthesis of the composer and pianist&#8217;s vast musical universe.
