It represents an individual consciousness determined to confront the greatest adversities in defence of its ideals. It invites reflection on paths entangled in subjectivity, yet powerfully seductive. It is a personal experience with universal aspirations, projected simultaneously onto the individual and Humanity as a whole. In this programme, it is paired with the expressive paradoxes of Pinho Vargas and with two other works which, by master and pupil alike, converge in the intimate and eloquent voice of the cello.
