It is based on a creative laboratory model aimed at participants with solid skills who, in each edition, compose the music, lyrics, and poems that make up the repertoire, guided by the idea of real-time improvisation. With artistic direction by Carlos Martins and Andr\u00e9 Fernandes, and produced by ASL, this 2025 edition features Cynthia Perez (spoken word), jedza (rap), Gabriel Gomes (vocals), Andr\u00e9 Murra\u00e7as (saxophone), Vicente Pechorro (keyboards), Joseph Indi (bass), and Jo\u00e3o Parracho (drums).<\/p>\n<p>The Mateus Saldanha Quartet is led by guitarist Mateus Saldanha and features three renowned musicians on the Portuguese jazz scene: Hugo Lobo on piano, Thiago Alves on double bass, and Gabriel Moraes on drums. Saldanha\u2019s original compositions\u2014rooted in the rich jazz tradition and the jazz and blues standards that form part of the American songbook\u2014were recorded in 2024 for what will be the group\u2019s first full-length album, <em>Trouble<\/em>, presented for the first time at the <em>Festa do Jazz<\/em>.
