Mendelssohn was enthralled by the country and began to write his fourth symphony, <em>Italiana<\/em>, in response to a commission made by the London Philharmonic Society, imbued with the landscapes of Florence, Milan, Rome and Naples. Nuno C\u00f4rte-Real\u2019s piano concertante work <em>Todo o teatro \u00e9 um muro branco de m\u00fasica<\/em> directs our attention to the intersectionism of Fernando Pessoa\u2019s poem <em>Oblique Rain<\/em>, and guides us in this programme towards a selection of Mozart\u2019s most famous arias, performed by the most international Portuguese soprano of her generation, Ana Quintans, accompanied by the Tuscany Orchestra in its first performance in Portugal.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The colours and atmospheres of Italy have always inspired composers.
