SUMMARY:Getting to know the adufe
DESCRIPTION:The adufe — a traditional square percussion instrument — takes center stage in this workshop. The starting point is the oral tradition of adufe playing and singing from the region of Idanha-a-Nova\, the homeland of Ti Chitas. This workshop aims to provide each participant with the basic tools needed to become familiar with the adufe.

SUMMARY:Open Day
DESCRIPTION:As part of the exhibition Raw Earth\, on view at the MAC/CCB Architecture Centre between June and October 2026\, an Open Day dedicated to earthen construction will take place on 27 February. \nThe session is part of the “Terras de Lisboa” project\, developed by DOING.pt and CRU atelier\, which explores the potential of excavated soil in Lisbon as an abundant\, circular\, and relevant resource for contemporary construction. \nThe Open Day is an activity of the Laboratório Terras de Lisboa—a laboratory space set up at the CCB for experimentation and prototyping—and will consist of an introductory theoretical and practical session on earthen construction. The activity will be led by Nuno Vasconcelos (DOING.pt) and Tânia Teixeira (CRU atelier)\, and is aimed at higher-education students from a range of fields\, from architecture and the arts to geology. \nThis is an opportunity to engage directly with applied research\, experimental processes\, and contemporary practices in earthen construction.

SUMMARY:Conference - King Dinis and music
DESCRIPTION:King Dinis not only founded the University of Lisbon but also established\, in 1323\, the Chair of Music\, whose academic nature will be discussed. The king’s importance to musical activity is\, however\, mainly connected to his role within the Galician-Portuguese troubadour lyric tradition\, as both patron and creator. \nAmong his many cantigas\, seven have come down to us with musical notation in the so-called Sharrer Parchment\, discovered in 1990 in the Torre do Tombo. This document reveals a facet of his art that the poetic texts\, known since the 19th century\, had not made apparent. \n  \nThis lecture takes place in connection with the concert The Songs of King Dinis by the ensemble Na Rota do Peregrino\, on February 27\, at 8:00 pm. \n

SUMMARY:The Songs of King Dinis\, the Troubadour King
DESCRIPTION:Medieval Music \nThe new project by the ensemble Na Rota do Peregrino\, under the direction of Daniela Tomaz (Ensemble Med) and the musical direction of medievalist Maurício Molina (City University of New York)\, is titled The Songs of King Dinis\, the Troubadour King and is inspired by the 700th anniversary of his death in 2025. \nThe selected repertoire brings to life the compositions of King Dom Dinis (1261–1325) through a careful\, historically informed reconstruction of his seven cantigas de amor (based on the Sharrer fragments). This reconstruction incorporates historical pronunciation and instrumental accompaniment. \n  \nIn connection with this concert\, the lecture King Dinis and Music by Prof. Manuel Pedro Ferreira will take place in the Lopes-Graça Room on the same day\, 27 February\, at 6:30 pm. \n  \nEl Corte Inglés supports the CCB’s Classical Music Mediation Programme.
