SUMMARY:Lisbon Metropolitan Orchestra
DESCRIPTION:Das Lied von der Erde has a hybrid format\, lying somewhere between a symphony and a song cycle. It was composed little more than a century ago\, at a time when Europe was undergoing a profound paradigm shift\, which also spread to the intellectual and artistic worlds. Gustav Mahler maintained the links with the past but was also looking for alternatives. He ostentatiously created a range of different allusions\, which had connotations with nature\, poetry\, philosophy\, personal life\, popular traditions\, and even with certain exotic aspects that he imported from distant cultures. He combined lyrical singing and orchestra in an exercise of erudition with a tremendous depth of expression. Before this\, we will have the opportunity to listen to the tuneful tones of Tua lágrima em mim\, a composition by Ana Seara from 2009\, which has steadily become a recurrent part of the orchestra’s concert repertoire.
