SUMMARY:Death of a Salesman\, by Arthur Miller
DESCRIPTION:The United States in the 1940s. Willy Loman wants to offer the world to his children; he wants them to conquer it. After spending 34 years working as a travelling salesman\, he watches his dreams evaporate before him\, losing touch with reality. In Death of a Salesman\, we see the modern tragedy of the common man\, whose failure in life ultimately leads to a violent sense of powerlessness. Written by Arthur Miller immediately after the Second World War\, this play is now brought to the Centro Cultural de Belém (in partnership with Teatro Nacional D. Maria II)\, in what amounts to a heartfelt Requiem for a society based on individual triumph. One of the saddest and most painful portraits of the American Dream\, directed by Jorge Silva Melo\, with Rita Lopes Alves (set design and costumes)\, André Pires (sound) and Pedro Domingos (lighting).

SUMMARY:Amazing Grace (2018)
DESCRIPTION:In 1972\, Aretha Franklin\, the undisputed Queen of Soul\, recorded an album of gospel music at The New Temple Missionary Baptist Church in Los Angeles\, before an ecstatic live audience. The result\, Amazing Grace\, went on to become one of the biggest albums of Aretha Franklin’s career and one of her most beloved works. \nBut even as the album gained fans around the world\, few realised that the inspirational sessions had not only been recorded\, they had been filmed by a camera crew led by Oscar winning filmmaker Sydney Pollack. However\, due to technical problems\, the film has never been seen. Until now. \nMusic lovers won’t want to miss this thrilling film\, which is both an extraordinary look at a key moment in American musical and social history\, and an invaluable record of one of America’s greatest artists doing what she did best.
