SUMMARY:Codfish Architecture
DESCRIPTION:Expanding on the exhibition Our Land Is the Sea\, Centro Cultural de Belém/Garagem Sul organises a debate bridging Portugal’s and Norway’s fishing and built environment cultures. Codfish Architecture is funded by EEA Grants Portugal through the Bilateral Relations Fund and will trace research currently in progress at Universidade do Minho’s School of Architecture\, being part of Landscape\, Heritage and Territory Laboratory (Lab2PT)\, and the Oslo School of Architecture and Design. The debate will focus on the thriving ties between marine ecosystems and built environment and will allow us to understand how port cities and territories have changed according to fishing practices\, technological processing procedures\, and the human impact in marine ecosystems. For this exchange programme\, lectures will be hosted in the two countries\, and the outcome will be published in a new edition of Cadernos da Garagem. \n

SUMMARY:On the Other Side of the Rabbit Hole | Immersive installation
DESCRIPTION:As you enter the rabbit hole\, you will find a collection of spaces where you can experience Alice’s dream. Here you can mingle with the flowers\, wander amid drawings and patterns\, open doors to the other side of the looking glass and discover who you are in a topsy-turvy world. \nRummage through the drawers of Wonderland\, sit at the table with the Mad Hatter and ask yourself: How many clocks does time have? Can you dress the Rabbit’s house? Have you ever played cards with the future? Close your eyes\, or you won’t see anything. \n

SUMMARY:Forms of Reading
DESCRIPTION:The need to introduce the comic into literature dates from a very long time ago and\, still today\, laughter is considered as the best remedy for many ills. We have noted how\, time and again\, comedy has served as a kind of comfort in gloomy times – such as the ones that we are currently living through – and it is sufficiently subversive and disorderly to include biting\, and sometimes violent\, criticisms of the status quo\, asserting itself as the last bastion of freedom against the repression of censorship\, whether this is political\, social\, religious\, sexual or moral. This cycle of readings will\, therefore\, focus on the power of comedy. \n  \n
